FAQ
WHO ARE THE HMONG PEOPLE AND WHERE DO THEY LIVE?
Hmong, are an ethnic group (people group) living chiefly in China and Southeast Asia that speak Hmong. Since the late 18th century, many Hmong slowly migrated out of the southern provinces of China, where about 2.7 million still remain.
Some 1.2 million have moved into the rugged uplands of northern Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and the eastern parts of Myanmar (Burma). More than 170,000 live in the United States.
WHAT MAKES THE HMONG SPECIAL?
The Hmong are created in the image of God and yet many of them know only the religion of ancestor and spirit worship passed down to them from generations past. Despite this generational cycle, many have experienced the freedom found only in Jesus Christ. There are now not just Hmong churches but movements of Hmong churches. The Hmong pastors need and want training. The Hmong churches are not just reaching the Hmong in South East Asia but are also having an impact beyond their people group. What a special people with a special opportunity.
